Consulting Assignments

General HRD & Research Consulting

I am particularly interested in consulting assignments involving data collection - for instance, Needs Analysis and Evaluation projects, employee engagement research, or personality validity studies for personnel selection (i.e., identification of personality traits connected to optimum performance in certain jobs).

Instructional Design and Facilitation

As an international training consultant I have traveled extensively, designing and facilitating experiential training programs in English, Spanish, and Portuguese.

The following are my main training specialties:

  • Leadership and team development
  • Employee engagement
  • "Conversity" development ("Conversity" means a positive and "out of the box" approach to diversity training involving the active search for common ground)
  • Personality diversity - I am a master trainer for the "WorkPlace Big Five Profile," a rich and robust personality inventory developed by the Center for Applied Cognitive Studies.  I have also conducted myriad sessions using DISC and other personality profiles.

Below are examples of programs I have run for major international organizations:

Leadership Challenge - based on JIm Kouzes & Barry Posner's seminal work on leadership, this program features a "King Arthur"  theme.  Participants are "Knights of the Round Table" and are "knighted"  as "Lords" or "Ladies" at the end of the program. Program topics include integrity, self awareness, personality and competency development, engagement, communications, and team building. Duration: Typically 2-3 days - but can be customized to be run in shorter periods of time if/as needed.

Polaris - A program designed to help employees of all levels better understand engagement. The main objective of Polaris is to introduce the engagement phenomenon to all organizational members. Thus, while the program is particularly useful for leaders of all levels, it can also be valuable for employees in general.  Polaris features a “space exploration theme” and a lively simulation that mimics the dangers of disengagement.Duration: Polaris can be structured to run three or six hours, depending on time availability and interest in-depth engagement discussions. The program can also be added to employee orientations.  Licensing / train the trainer options are available.

The Global Intelligence Agency - This team building adventure invites participants to go through a variety of "missions"  including "The Portrait"  (an introduction to the Five Factor Model of Personality), "The Decoders"  (a trust-building exercise in which participants must "difuse a bomb") and "Montecarlo"  (a high-stakes card game to help participants understand the impact of cultural diversity).  The exercises can be easily customized to match the team's specific objectives. Duration:Typically 2 days - but can be customized to be run in shorter periods of time if/as needed.

Becoming a Conversity Master - this brief but action-packed introduction to "building connections"  features a "Noah's Ark Theme," an intercultural relations simulation, and an introduction to personality diversity.  Duration: Between 2 and 4 hours, depending on whether the client needs to include discussions on personality diversity, cultural diversity, or both.
