Current Projects
My current research and writing interests include the following:
I have written a chapter on employee engagement for publication in the "Handbook of Employee Engagement" currently being organized by Dr. Simon Albrecht from Monash University (click here to visit Dr. Albrecht's page). The chapter has been accepted by Dr. Albrecht. I am currently waiting for final editing requests to be made by the publisher.
I have recently (December 8, 2009) submitted an article to the Society for Human Resources Management Magazine. The article is entitled "How to Disengage your Employees in Seven Simple Lessons" and was written with the HR practitioner in mind.
I am collaborating with Dr. Anne Christo-Baker, professor of Organizational Leadership at Purdue University, to conduct a study on the engagement and personality traits of Human Resource professionals. The study will be a replication of my dissertation study with the inclusion of questions on William Kahn's "psychological conditions of engagement" - meaningfulness, safety, and availability. The owner of Linked:HR, the largest HR group on Linkedin, has agreed to forward our invitation letter to approximately 200,000 Linked:HR members. We are submitting a proposal to our institutional Human Subject Research Boards the week of January 11 and plan to start the research project in February of 2010.
I am collaborating with Dr. Joyce Litten (Chair of Social Work at Lourdes College) to write an article based on my dissertation research. The article will focus on the relationship between engagement and the personalities of professionals in a county board of developmental disabilities. The study has already been approved by the Human Subject Research Boards of both Lourdes College and Wright State University.
